In this week’s business spotlight, I’d love to introduce you to the owners of the calligraphy studio Riley and Ko: Hannah and Lauren. These sister decided to bring together their skills to create a studio of their own. Now, as an only child I wouldn’t think it be a great idea to work with a sibling, but these sister have such a great chemistry. We basically laughed for about an hour. In between giggles, I did learn that Lauren has been trained as a pointed pen calligrapher and Hannah as a graphic designer. Each women use her unique skill to create their art. Their studio is focused in weddings, such as hand addressed envelopes, letter pressed invitations, menu cards, programs and signage; but they also can do most anything you would need to be hand lettered. They created the amazing wooden signs used in the breast cancer photoshoot I participated in last month, and also decorated the matts for the survivor’s keepsake. After spending time with these girls, I soon realized it would be nice to have a sister and partner in my own business. Having someone else to bounce ideas off of, bring me to reality, or bring a separate set of skills along with mine to create an awesome business. I loved hanging out with these girls and learning about their lives and business. Plus, they create amazing art. If you are interested in getting some of their art for your own check out their instagram and Etsy page.
I have to tell you I was super interested to spend time with Lauren and Hannah because I did take a calligraphy course this winter. But my six week course doesn’t hold a candle to what these amazing girls can do! If you are interested in learning a little more about doing your own hand lettering, they are hosting a class tomorrow at Level Up Louisville. There are only a few spots left, so sign up ASAP. And if you’d like your business to be featured in my business spotlight, contact me today.
And if you are wondering who are Riley and Ko, like everyone else, well, they are the girls dogs: Riley and Dakota.
