Some of the most fun I have photographing children are celebrating milestones, like first birthday sessions. Milestone sessions are a great way to celebrate your child’s growth and change over the first year of their life. But why stop there? Milestone sessions can also be a great way to celebrate the entire family with family pictures. And not just mom, dad and sibling, but grandparents, godparents or all the special people in your little one’s life.
I was so happy to be able to take Brock’s first birthday portraits because I had been blessed to photograph a newborn session for him and a 6 month extended family session. Capturing a family throughout the entire first year is exactly the reason I’m in this business: documenting the growth and change of a family. During this family pictures session, we went to some private land a friend of the family owns. It was a little cold and cloudy, but I think that made for some epic skies in these images. The outfits chose work so well together and really give off a “fall” feeling, without being over done. I really enjoyed photographing this session and I hope you enjoy it, too!
What first birthday is complete without some cake smash pictures? Candi created all of these props herself, (with a little help from Etsy). Brock wasn’t into his cake, but he really LOVED this decoration shaped as a number one.
