Its probably cliche, but the best time in my life was when I was pregnant. There is something so magical about creating a new life. Each day is filled with excitement, joy, and a little worry. I loved to fantasize about what my baby would be like, wonder about who he would look like. Will he have my eyes and your nose? What if he doesn’t like Star Wars or this exact color blue we picked out? I know during my pregnancy I spent hours countless hours dreaming about Jack. I would make up stories about how his life from his birth to when he would have children of his own. Its pretty easy to say that some of my favorite family photos are maternity portraits.
Some people might want family photos after the baby is born. But I think there is something special about having a last family portrait before baby gets here. Its important to document those last few weeks as a family of two or three or four: a tender, stolen moment of love between two new parents; or the sweet kisses that an older sibling gives to mommy’s tummy. My job is to document your family how they are now, right before this new phase of life. What a wonderful gift to give a new baby: a tangible representation of how much their family loved them before they were even born.
If you or someone you know is expecting their first child, or even their fifth, have them contact me. It would be my pleasure to document their life during pregnancy, after their baby arrives, and all other stages after.
