Best Locations in Louisville
Deciding on the locations of your portrait shoot can be one of the hardest decisions, after wardrobe, of course. There are a lot of amazing places to shoot here. So, I want to tell you about the best locations in Louisville and surrounding areas to have your portrait.
Downtown is great if you want a lot of variety. In a very short distance you can see lots of textures, backgrounds and even graffiti if you would like. Plus, we have an amazing skyline. Downtown is great for seniors, teens or families with older children. I wouldn’t recommend it for those with small children who need space to run and play during a photoshoot.
Other neighborhoods with the downtown vibe? I love shooting in NULU or the Highlands.
What? You don’t think the suburbs can be cool? Think again. Manicured lawns and flowery bushes are just some cool things you can find in the suburbs. I especially love the Norton Commons area because there is a lot of beautiful green space and a cool commercial area with a lot less traffic.
One of the best things about living in Kentucky is all the rolling green hills and abundance of trees (one of the worst is the allergies because of those trees). And Louisville has many parks and nature conservatories. One of my favorite locations for photoshoots is Black Acre Nature Conservatory. They have it all! Open fields, old barn, horse fences, and little kids love to see the animals on the farm.
Your own property
You’d be surprised at how many session I do on people’s own property. It makes for such a special experience to have your session in a place that means so much to you, and you get to brag when you show off your images. And it doesn’t need to be 5 acres or anything. Just a nicely landscaped backyard and a brick wall will do fine!
Sometimes with time of year or weather makes it hard to have a session outside. Or many clients like when I’m able to control the background and the lighting. If this sounds like you, then the studio is the perfect place. My studio is a great size for personal branding portraits, seniors, tweens or small children.
I hope this helped you learn more about the best locations in Louisville. If you’d like more information on portrait sessions with me, just fill out the form on my contact page.
